This method is used for large-scale coating of components with wear protection and / or corrosion protection or for repairing worn areas.
The very homogeneous coating with minimal dilution with the base material makes it possible to apply very high-quality corrosion and wear protection layers. Because it is a welding process, the coating is metallurgically bonded to the base material. Rearward migration of the layer by water, which leads to the spalling of the layer by corrosion, is not possible.
The coating can be machined just like the base material.
This makes the process ideal for repairing worn components or machining defects. The very low heat input minimizes the distortion so that even finished components can be reworked on bearing seats, sealing seats and other functional surfaces.
The very homogeneous and uniform coating reduces rework and leads to properties that are often higher than those of the new part. This is possible due to a coating composition optimally adapted to the application. A variety of powders is available.
